Dave is a Senior Commercial Advisor for Avison Young working out of the Halifax office. Dave specializes in some of the most creative listings in the business as well as government and corporate RFP processes. His specific experience in hospitality & recreational resorts sectors, locally, regionally, nationally & internationally has created a wide network of successful contacts. Dave also works with clients interested in engaging in commercial leasing and for the marketing and successful sale of industrial, retail and income properties across the Maritime commercial market. Succession Planning has become a growing portfolio for Dave in recent years and Dave has also completed three “design-build” contracts for two ~10,000 sf office buildings and a 22,000 sf industrial concrete tilt-up multi-tenant structure.

Born in the HRM, Dave has spent most of his business career in this market and still resides in the HRM with his wife Reta. Dave and Reta are proud to have raised two daughters who are building their careers and raising their growing families in Nova Scotia.

An ardent golfer & accomplished alpine skier, Dave has been very active with many boards & associations, community groups and charities and is widely known in his community and extensive business network for his positive attitude and for ‘making things happen’.

Following a successful career as an entrepreneur, management consultant and senior executive for several Fortune 500 companies, Dave’s real estate career over the past couple decades has featured successfully marketing, managing and selling several large developments/projects including resorts, golf courses, UNESCO properties, as well as representing many clients and customers in their leasing, buying and/or selling of a wide range of commercial properties ranging from small retail to downtown office spaces and large industrial buildings to large development acreages.

Dave completed a degree in Hospitality & Tourism before heading to western Canada to engage in the resort and ski business, and upon returning to Nova Scotia in the early 80’s, studied Commerce at Saint Mary’s University, ultimately completing a Degree in Marketing & International Business at Saint Mary’s at the World Trade Centre in 1990. As an advocate of lifelong learning, Dave has completed a wide range of programs, courses and professional designations in conjunction with his business interests throughout this time.
