Jim Gross joined Avison Young in 2020 as an Executive Director in our New York City office.

Jim has consummated over 50 million square feet of real estate transactions for tenants and landlords of all sizes across all industries.

Some of Jim’s clients have included: SL Green, Extell Development, Vanbarton Group, Benedict Realty Group, Adellco, George Comfort & Son’s and the Government Property Income Trust.

He began his career at Helmsley Spear and in 1971, partnered with Ron Picket to form Williamson, Picket, Gross, Inc. (WPG), a full-service commercial real estate firm with a primary focus on brokerage in leasing and sales. In addition to brokerage, WPG also purchased buildings in Manhattan’s Financial District at 50 Broadway, 116 John Street, 85 John Street and land at 175 Water Street, where they developed a 35-story, 700,000-square-foot office building.

Jim merged WPG with Douglas Elliman in 2014 to start Douglas Elliman Commercial LLC with his partner and son, Peter.

Jim is a graduate of Union College, where he remains a very active alumnus, and holds a graduate degree from Thunderbird School of International Management.
